Hiss Institute for the Study of Middle America Issues
Instructor, Donald Wiley
Hiss Institute for the Study of Middle America Issues will begin classes on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in room C (the bride's room under the sanctuary). The class will run from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Duration of the class will be about 5 weeks.
This semester will focus on the Olmec, regarded by most scholars as the Mother Culture of the many Mesoamerican societies that follow. As the first organized in the Americas, the Olmec flourished from about 1500 BC until about 400 BC. I cannot speak for any of you but, in my case I was never exposed to this culture during my years growing up in the public school system.
If this topic does not interest you, I suggest the Spring 2018 subject. The spring topic will feature THe Construction of the Panama Canal. That class is under development as we write.
Hope to see all of the past class members and hopefully many new participants as well. Want a bit more information on the class? Ask any past students or the instructor, Don Wiley. You are encouraged to bring a friend. There's always room for more.
CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
